How I think about Waze saved places as a driver
Last updated: June 3, 2026
Waze is great for driving, but I prefer keeping long-term saved places in a neutral app and opening Waze only when I need car navigation.
Waze is one of my favorite apps for driving. It feels practical, road-aware, and focused on getting me through traffic. But I do not treat Waze as my main place archive.
For me, Waze is the driving layer. My Saved Places is the memory layer.
Driving places are not only driving places
A hotel, restaurant, office, or airport may be a Waze destination today, but tomorrow I may need it for walking, public transport, or a taxi ride.
If I save the place only in Waze, I make it less flexible. If I save it in My Saved Places, I can open Waze when driving and another app when not driving.
This keeps Waze focused
I like letting Waze do what it does best: route me by car. I do not need it to hold every cafe, beach, viewpoint, or travel idea I may ever revisit.
That separation makes the whole navigation setup cleaner.
