How I save restaurants and cafes I actually want to remember
Last updated: June 3, 2026
A personal workflow for saving restaurants, cafes, bars, and food spots so they stay searchable and easy to open in map or taxi apps.
Restaurants and cafes are some of the easiest places to save and some of the easiest to forget. I used to keep them in chats, notes, screenshots, and Google Maps lists. Later, I could never remember where the good recommendation went.
Now I try to save food places in My Saved Places with names that make sense to me, not just official names.
I name places by the memory
If a cafe is good for working, I include that in the name. If a restaurant is a good dinner spot, I name it that way. The goal is not perfect cataloging. The goal is to recognize the place quickly when I am hungry and outside.
A saved place becomes more useful when the name matches the reason I saved it.
Opening in taxi apps matters
Food plans often end with a ride. That is why I like keeping restaurants independent from one map. I may want to open the place in Google Maps first, then use Uber, Lyft, Yandex Go, or another taxi app later.
One saved location should work across the whole evening, not only inside the app where I found it.
