A favorite places app is not only for travel
Last updated: June 3, 2026
How I use saved locations for daily errands, regular routes, parking, pickup points, appointments, and places I open again and again.
People often think a favorite places app is mostly for travel, but I use saved locations just as much in normal life. Daily errands create repeat destinations: parking, pickup points, appointments, shops, gyms, offices, and cafes.
The value is not dramatic. It is the small relief of not searching for the same place again.
Pinned places are perfect for routine
For places I open often, I use pins. They keep regular destinations close without forcing me to search through every saved location.
That makes My Saved Places useful even on ordinary days. The app becomes a quiet shortcut layer for the places I actually use.
Different errands need different apps
Sometimes I walk, sometimes I drive, and sometimes I need a ride. The same saved place might open in Apple Maps one day, Waze another day, and Uber or Lyft another day.
That flexibility is why I prefer saving the place once instead of saving it separately in every app.
