Best app to save places on iPhone: what I wanted before building my own

Last updated: June 3, 2026

What I look for in an iPhone app for saved places: fast saving, clean lists, iCloud sync, and the freedom to open locations in different navigation apps.

When I searched for the best app to save places on iPhone, I kept finding tools that were either too heavy or too locked into one map. I wanted something smaller: save a place, name it, organize it, and open it later in the navigation app that makes sense.

That is the gap My Saved Places is trying to fill. It is not a social travel network and it is not a complicated trip planner. It is a practical saved locations app for people who move between different maps.

The iPhone workflow I care about

On iPhone, speed matters. If saving a place takes too many taps, I will not do it in the moment. I want to save a location from search, address, coordinates, or the map itself, then keep moving.

The second thing I care about is reliability. Optional iCloud Sync is useful because saved places feel like personal memory. Losing them after reinstalling an app or changing a device would be painful.

Why one app is not enough for navigation

Even if I save everything on iPhone, I still use different apps for routes. Google Maps is good for discovery, Waze is useful for driving, and Apple Maps or HERE WeGo can be better in other moments.

That is why the best saved places app, for me, is not the app that forces one navigator. It is the app that keeps my places organized and lets me choose the route app later.
