Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze: why I want one saved place for all of them

Last updated: June 3, 2026

A simple explanation of why saved locations should work across Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, and other navigation apps.

Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze all have strengths. I do not want to pick one forever. I want to choose based on the moment.

That is why one saved place should be able to open in all of them. The place is my data. The route app is just the tool I use today.

The same destination can have many contexts

A work address may need Apple Maps when walking, Google Maps when checking nearby places, Waze when driving, and a taxi app when I do not want to drive.

Saving that same address separately in every app feels wrong. It creates duplicates instead of clarity.

My Saved Places is the neutral layer

My Saved Places exists to sit between the memory and the navigator. I keep the location once, then open the app that fits the situation.

It is a small idea, but it removes a surprising amount of everyday friction.
